As with many things in life it's not always what you know, but who you know, that achieves results. Are there any guide or scout leaders amongst your friends, family or fellow amateur radio operators? Anyone you know have sons or daughters who are scout or guide youth members? Try to use these personal connections to make contact with local leaders, to pursue the idea of operating a JOTA station.

Guides and Scouts also have state based coordinators for Jamboree On The Air, who would be able to assist with connecting you with leaders in your local area.

Guide and Scout websites can also be useful to search for contact details of local leaders. Links to these web sites can be found here;

Don't be discouraged if you haven't a good JOTA experience in the past, as circumstances may have changed. Many leaders only stay with the guide or scout movement for a short time, so maybe it's time make new contacts.

Let's try and make the 60th JOTA an enjoyable and memorable event over the weekend 20th to 22nd October 2017.
